No In-Person Employment Tribunal Hearings from Next Week

19th March 2020

The President of Employment Tribunals (Scotland) has made a statement with regard to Tribunal Hearings in Scotland, England and Wales. The following is a summary of the current information:

From Monday 23rd March 2020 all in-person hearings will be converted to a case management hearing by telephone or other electronic means. In-person hearings are any hearing where the parties are expected to be in attendance at a tribunal hearing centre. These measures will take place on the first day allocated of the hearing. Be aware that this will be the procedure unless parties are advised otherwise.

If your case is set to be longer than one day, the parties should proceed on the basis that the remainder of the fixed days have been cancelled. To avoid doubt, this applies to any hearing case already in progress on Monday 23rd March. If you have not already been advised otherwise, all parties may assume that the hearing on that day will be converted to a case management hearing. Parties will still be able to make any application to the Tribunal at any time.
