Employment Law Weekly News Update

In this edition:

• The EAT hold that an employer was not liable for harassment where an employee posted a golliwog image on her private Facebook page because posting the message was not done in the course of her employment.
• The EAT confirm that disclosing information that a colleague was taking a patient’s food was a protected whistleblowing disclosure because it related to a breach of a legal obligation and was in the public interest.
• The Government has published ‘Gender equality at every stage: a roadmap for change’, setting out the vision and actions to tackle the persistent gendered inequalities women and men face in their lives.
• A new TUC survey shows that 1 in 10 (9.6%) working-age adults now work via gig economy platforms at least once a week, compared to around 1 in 20 (4.7%) in 2016.
