In this edition:

• The EAT holds that an employee’s tendency to steal was a manifestation of his disability, meaning that his condition excluded him from the definition of disability and so his discriminatory dismissal claim failed.
• An ET is to decide whether veganism is a “philosophical belief” under the Equality Act 2010 in a claim being brought by an ex-employee who alleges the League Against Cruel Sports discriminated against him.
• The Department for Work and Pensions in collaboration with the CIPD have published a practical guide for line managers on recruiting, managing and developing people with a disability or health condition.
• The CBI launches its Front of Mind report, a good practice guide for mental health, setting out the business case for employers to act in three key areas of good practice to improve wellbeing in the workplace.
