The UK Jewish Film Festival (UKJFF) opened at the BFI Southbank last night, with a screening of Working Woman, a new film directed by Michal Aviad. Simons Muirhead Burton LLP (SMB) sponsored the screening, which was introduced by lead actress Liron Ben Shlush. The screening was part of the opening night gala, introduced by Venessa Feltz.
UK Jewish Film, whose aim is to develop a culture where Jewish and Israeli film is recognised and enjoyed by the widest possible audience, runs the festival every year. This is the 22nd edition and will feature 85 films from 16 countries, including 51 UK premieres, at 21 cinemas in London, Brighton, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham.
Working Woman concentrates on the story of Orna, an ambitious woman who, after taking a job as a real estate marketing manager, makes difficult choices and sacrifices regarding her family. When her boss’s attention and praise turns to harassment, Orna struggles to restore her sense of dignity and self-worth.
The firm are proud sponsors of the festival and the film, which deals with a subject of timely relevance. We wish UKJFF every success.
